Q: When will my books arrive?

A: Emery-Pratt's goal is for you to receive your orders as soon as possible. When placed by phone before 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time, In-Stock titles will ship the same day. After 10:30 your order for In-Stock titles will ship the next business day. All orders are shipped freight free. Rush service is available for those orders that just can't wait. One of our Customer Service Representatives can help get what you need when you need it.

Also, be sure to ask about our Early Release program, which allows you to receive books in advance of their scheduled release.

Q: Are my titles in stock?

A: Information about titles In-Stock is available at www.emery-pratt.com. For your convenience you can search anytime, 24/7. Searching In-Stock will check only those titles on hand or on order for our inventory. The In-Print search will query our entire database of over 4 million titles, identifying those in our stock. For additional help you can always contact one of our Customer Service Representatives during regular business hours. We're always happy to help!

Duplicate Order Alert

Duplicate titles received at your library present a time-consuming challenge. Even after careful checking, occasionally titles are inadvertently ordered a second time - titles already in your collection.

You can always cancel or return them, but that takes precious time from your already busy schedule. So, let us help! Every order is checked by ISBN against our order files for the previous two years. No need to request this service with each order. We just do it – automatically.

When a potential duplicate is detected, one of our order entry specialists will contact you immediately about completion of your order.

How long have you used Emery-Pratt as a book vendor?

I have been using Emery-Pratt as my primary vendor since about 1988-1989.

Why did you decide to order from us?

I had become increasingly dissatisfied with my jobber (order mistakes, poor customer service) and decided to try to find a new jobber. I tried Emery-Pratt and one other jobber and Emery-Pratt was hands-down the best.

Is there one service we offer that you find of great value?

Obviously I like the free shipping and discounts, but I like having a vendor I can depend on to manage my standing orders.

Any other comments?

The biggest advantage Emery-Pratt has over other companies is the people. They have the absolute best customer service/order personnel that I have ever worked with. They are always friendly and helpful. And it doesn't matter what I call to ask them, they are always willing to help. Unfortunately, this seems to be a rarity in the business world today. It is nice to be able to call a company and talk to a real person instead of having to spend time going through a phone tree until you get to actually talk to someone.

On Memorial Day (May 26) we need to pause and remember to pay our respects for those who died protecting and preserving the freedoms we enjoy, for we owe those honored dead more than we can ever give back.

In the Spotlight

Meet Bill Carter! Bill, an outside account representative, is responsible for calling on libraries in the states of Missouri, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Bill first joined the Emery-Pratt team six years ago. He enjoys calling on librarians in his territory and relates well with them. He strives to take care of their book ordering needs and is constantly looking for ways to simplify his customers procedures.

Married to his wife Diane for 38 years this July, they have one daughter, one son and seven grandchildren.

Bill has several favorite books which include: In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, Yeager, by General Chuck Yeager, and White Fang by Jack London.

Bill is a very active individual and when he is not working on ways to help Emery-Pratt customers he can be found motorcycle and horseback riding, and target shooting. He also enjoys working with recreational bicycle groups.

ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

This year our annual awards banquet was celebrated on February 28, 2008. All employees were treated to a scrumptious lunch catered by the Fortune House restaurant. Our lunch included Almond Chicken, Vegetable Fried Rice, salad and dessert.

• Employees receiving one year service awards: Autumn Street (Business Development), Rosie Hooper (Order Entry), Claudette Andrews (Business Development), and Doug Hicks (Shipping).
• Employees receiving three year service awards: Susan Petter (Shipping), Cindy Gross (Shipping), and Deb Kurrle (Stock).
• Employees receiving five year service awards: Carrie Brown (Marketing).
• Employees receiving 10 year service awards: Linda Buehler (Order Entry).
• Employees receiving 15 year service awards: Hubert Traugh (Maintenance) and Byron Shattuck (Sales).
• The 20 year service award went to Ellen VanderMolen (Business Development).
• Billie Jo Eastman (Receiving Supervisor) and Mo Shattuck (Marketing Supervisor) received an award for 25 years of service.

Avery Weaver (National Sales Director) was presented with an award for 40 years of service.

2008 Award Winners

Extra! Extra!

• Linda Limbaugh (Receiving Dept.) recently had the opportunity to attend a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show in Chicago, Illinois. Linda treated a friend of hers to the taping for her friends 60th birthday. The show was taped on March 19, 2008 and aired on April 23, 2008. The Oprah show was about the ABC Primetime series “What Would You Do?” featuring host John Quinones. Linda commented that the guests that day on the show were people who had been caught on What Would You Do? hidden cameras who had taken action and stood up to others who were faced with a dilemma.
• Autumn Sturm (Business Development) and Kenneth Street were married Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the McCurdy Park Chapel in Corunna, MI. Congratulations!
• Maurie and Pam Shattuck are the proud grandparents of Sarah Joy Shattuck, born on April 17, 2008. Sarah weighed in at 7 lbs. 2 oz., and 20 inches long. The proud parents are Owen and Kim Shattuck of Loveland, CO.
• Please remember to stop on Mother's Day (May 11) and Father's Day (June 15) for a few moments in quiet reflection and thank God for all that mothers and fathers have done.
